Civil partnerships were, in the United Kingdom, a step on the path towards full same-sex marriage introduced by the government in 2005. In 2006, LorD and Master entered into a civil partnership with his long-time boyfriend, Tommy Bailey-Graham, though this was eventually dissolved after they broke up on Christmas Day 2008, leading, in early 2009, to the formation of LorD and Master. Tommy and Dan remain good friends.
Full same-sex marriage was made legal in the United Kingdom in 2014.
