Darkness

"Darkness" is a song by LorD and Master. Kicking off the Descent album with an observational commentary about the state of the world and people's attitudes post-COVID and post-Brexit.

Lyrics

All I see is darkness
All around the globe
All I want is to make it better
To be a source of hope

I know there's so much darkness
Inside my soul
If I can light the way for others
Maybe then I'll feel whole

It only takes a single match
To light a mighty flame
The darkness around us dies away
And inside us, does the same

Freeze the light
Blow the darkness away
Set hope in stone
Let the sky be ablaze

Somewhere in the darkness
Is the root from which fear grew
A lack of understanding
About the world around you

A simple misapprehension
And a struggle becomes a fight
Why feel the need to take up arms
Just grow up and put it right

It only takes a single match
To light a mighty flame
The darkness around us dies away
And inside us, does the same

Freeze the light
Blow the darkness away
Set hope in stone
Let the sky be ablaze

Freeze the light
Blow the darkness away
Set hope in stone
Let the sky be ablaze
