"Foregone conclusion" is a song by LorD and Master from the album Decimus. The song concerns LorD and Master's adherence to the belief in an absence of fate; he believes that there is no set plan for people's lives and that events, while they have a cause, they are not planned by the cosmos or a deity in order to, say, teach a life lesson or manoeuvre an individual into a certain place in order to fulfil some kind of intricate masterplan.

Lyrics

Some say it's written in the stars
Life's journey, this voyage of ours
Sometimes I get the feeling
When things leave me reeling

But I can't swallow that bitter pill
I need to believe in free will

Tell me I'm wrong or tell me I'm right
But I need to believe I'm in control of my life
Say it isn't so, say it's just an illusion
Tell me everything is not a foregone conclusion

Fatalist epistemology
Causes damage to your psyche
Try as you might, do what you can
But you can't defy the plan

But I can't swallow that bitter pill (bitter pill)
I need to believe in free will (free will)
