Amalgam

Amalgam is an album by LorD and Master. Written and produced in early late 2018 and early 2019, the album is a combination of two other albums. It is the seventeenth original studio album by the artist and its release date is 23 September 2019.

Concept

Originally two albums, Curious and Seriously, it was decided that with the amount of songs and projects going on at the same time, streamlining the releases into one album - an amalgamation of the two - would produce a better album. The resulting album is said to be "all killer, no filler" since the more experimental, less commercial tracks were stripped away and put in the Dumper, ready for use as B-sides and bonus tracks in the future. Aesthetically, the design of Amalgam is based on different coloured particles clashing and mixing. The designs were achieved using a single video in Adobe After Effects, using Red Giant's software Particular, which now supports simulation of fluid dynamics. The two different coloured particle systems hitting one another represent the two albums.

Curious

Curious was full of "unusual" songs, which departed from the norm in one way or another. The artwork was originally going to be computer-generated rock faces, but that was seen to be too incomprehensible, so a different, less cohesive approach was taken.

Seriously

Seriously was more "serious" an album. To juxtapose this, Peter Nugent was commissioned to work on comic-like artwork featuring Jojo the Sad Clown, a character Dr Nugent created to promote the album. Sadly, with the advent of Amalgam, Jojo only sees the light of day in this article.
