B-side

A B-side is a song which was recorded during the sessions of an album, but deemed too esoteric or different from the feel of the album and is released a bonus track on a maxi-single. The term B-side stems from the age of vinyl 7-inch singles where the leading song was on the "A-side" and a bonus song was on the reverse of the record.
