"By my side" is a song by LorD and Master that was inspired by working on a cover of Dusty Springfield's Pet Shop Boys-penned song, "In private", and mirrors its sentiments. It is the B-side to "Strange chemistry", from the album, Eclipse.

Lyrics

Take a stand for what you believe in
If you believe in us
Ducking and diving, wheeling and dealing
I don’t see what’s the fuss

I can’t live with the distance
I can’t live with the doubt
I don’t know why
You seem so shy
I can’t figure you out

There’s a gulf between
What you say and what you mean
That’s a hundred feet wide
Was it what you planned
To let go of my hand
Though you said you’d be by my side

Going out or staying in
Do your friends know I’m here
I guess I’m your dirty little secret
And it fills you with fear

If you live in the public eye
I guess I get it
But unless there’s a revelation
You’re gonna regret it

There’s a gulf between
What you say and what you mean
That’s a hundred feet wide
Was it what you planned
To let go of my hand
Though you said you’d be by my side

I can’t live with the distance
I can’t live with the doubt
I don’t know why
You seem so shy
I can’t figure you out

If you live in the public eye
I guess I get it
But unless there’s a revelation
You’re gonna regret it

There’s a gulf between
What you say and what you mean
That’s a hundred feet wide
Was it what you planned
To let go of my hand
Though you said you’d be by my side

There’s a gulf between
What you say and what you mean
That’s a hundred feet wide
Was it what you planned
To let go of my hand
Though you said you’d be by my side
