I love electro

"I love electro" is a song by LorD and Master written, tongue-in-cheek, about the joys of electronic pop music. The music itself is written by Dan's old friend, Joanna Dalton (née Gooch), who composed it as a classical piece that she and Dan produced on the Korg Trinity Pro in 1998. They then entered into a 'remixing duel', each taking time to remix the piece (then renamed "Miss Marple on acid" for its blend of classical and dance music elements) and surveying friends in the college car park to see which was preferred. Due to his greater experience (Jo hadn't spent years fiddling with synths, but playing pianos and more traditional instruments), Dan won the competition, though it was actually fairly close.

Lyrics

I don't much like showtunes
I don't really like jazz
I'm not a fan of easy listening
With all that pizzazz
But I really like synthpop
And I love electro
I love all those ones and zeros
They help me to let go

You can keep your brass section
Samples work just fine
I've no need for violins when there's
A sizzling synth line
I'm not one for country and western
I won't listen to it now or later
Just give me a gated pad
Running through a sixteen-step arpeggiator

I won't listen to power ballads
When I look in your eyes
I'm more content with chillout-ambient
I like tracks you can quantise
But I really like synthpop
And I love electro
I love all those ones and zeros
They help me to let go
