Form is the twenty-fifth original studio album from LorD and Master. Released in spring 2023, the album is accompanied by an instrumentals album, Formless.

Concept

The concept behind Form was quite literally to return to form after two concept albums in 2022. The idea was to create an album, once more, of all killer and no filler, twelve distinct songs with their own, unrelated narratives. In designing the album artwork for Form and its singles, a 3D object, not unlike a doughnut in shape, was created within Adobe AfterEffects, using Trapcode Tao, that could be orbited with a virtual camera, lit and manipulated in various ways. The artwork for the singles show the outside of the object, which has a rainbow gradient texture applied to it to denote the album's different hues and the songs' separate moods. The album artwork itself is an image from inside the 3D object, with the hole of the doughnut forming a central column. It was considered such a striking image that no text was required for the artwork as it would detract from the lushness of the design.

The Formless instrumentals album's artwork is a modification of the Form artwork with a more restricted colour palette of blues and oranges, allowing for the text across the middle with the artist and album's name.

Recorded in spring of 2022, the album has moments of reflection on moving forward in life in songs such as "Come home" and "Waiting". This is largely because Dan had moved back to Hastings from Coventry after four years in that city. Returning to his hometown three weeks ahead of Peter provided plenty of time to reflect on the new situation.
