Fractured
"Fractured" is the twelfth original studio album by LorD and Master. The album was written and recorded from September to December 2016. It was produced on Apple's Logic Pro software. Release date: 31 July 2017.
Concept
The concept of Fractured was to push some boundaries of pop music by being slightly more experimental with the sounds used and the structure of the songs. Moreover, the album could be seen as a collection of songs that are disparate, both sonically and thematically. The concept of the album being fractured, like a something-for-everyone kind of album, came easily, since LorD and Master was going through something of a period of creative abundance and was veering around the electronic pop genre. The idea was that the album wouldn't be so cohesive like previous albums, where perhaps a story arc could be contrived between the tracks. With the way people listen to music in the 21st century, Fractured could be seen as an electronic pop buffet; you pick the ones you like and leave the rest.
For the design of the album artworks for the release, Peter Nugent decided to take a literal approach. Two images of LorD and Master were taken and overlaid in such a way that shards of the two images show a splintered soul, both in anguish and impassive.
